Forward Communications CuteFTP Setup Information

Step 1

When you first start the Cute FTP program this is the screen that you will see. If this is the first time that you have run the program you will need to click on the "Add site" button. This will bring you to the FTP edit site window.

Step 2

In this window you will need to enter the information about your website. In this example Joe User is setting up his website. His webspace user name is 'joeuser'. Enter your Webspace user name in the Site Label, Initial Remote Directory, Initial Local Directory and User ID fields. Then type in your password. You will need to type in "www.forcomm.net" for the Host Address. The rest of this information should be left intact. You can press the "OK" button at this point. If you have a domain name with Forward Communications you will need to leave the Host Address the same and use the Initial Remote Directory, User ID and Password that was supplied by us.

Step 3

You will now need to select "Personal FTP Sites" on the window on the left and the connection you created on the window on the right. Then press the connect button.

Step 4

Just press the "OK" button when this winjdow appears.

Step 5

This is the main CuteFTP screen. On the left side are the files on your computer and on the right side is the remote directory on the webserver.

Step 6 - Navigation

To navigate to different directories click your mouse on the up arrow on the left hand side. This will let you display the files that you wish to upload. When you have the file that you want to upload all you have to do is double click on it to upload it. If you are having trouble uploading your files you may want to manually ste the mode of the upload. ASCII (the button with "ab" on it) is for text files and Binary (the button with 01 on it) is for images.
