Forward Communications Windows 3.1x Installation Instructions IE 4.01

Step 1

Make sure no other programs are running in Windows

Step 2

Insert CD into CD-ROM drive.

Step 3

From the Program Manager in Windows:

  1. Go to the File menu
  2. Select Run
  3. Type: x:\SETUP31(where x is the drive letter of your CD Drive, usually D)
  4. Click OK

Step 4

Click on the "Start Setup" button.

Step 5

Allow software to copy to your machine. (this may take several minutes)

Step 6

At the Internet Explorer 4.01 Setup screen click "Next"

Step 7

At the License Agreement screen select "I accept the agreement" and click "Next"

Step 8

At the Destination Folder screen click "Next"

Step 9

Allow the computer to detect your modem.

Step 10

When the process is done, it will have you restart your computer.

Step 11

When you return to Windows, double click the "Internet Signup" icon.

Step 12

Click on the button that has your phone number exchange on it.

Step 13

The Internet dialer should be setup now.

Outlook Express Setup for Win 3.1

Step 1

Double click the "Outlook Express" icon to run the e-mail setup.

Step 2

Click Next on the Welcome screen.

Step 3

At "Your Outlook Express Account Name" screen, Type your email name.

Step 4

At "Your Outlook Express Password" Screen, Select "Yes" then click "Next".

Step 5

At "Your Name" screen, Type: then click "Next". Ex: If you name is "Joe User" type in "Joe User"

Step 6

At "Internet E-Mail Address" screen, type your full e-mail address ie: joeuser@forcomm.net

Step 7

At "E-Mail Server Names " screen, don't make any changes and click "Next".

Step 8

At "Internet Mail Logon" screen, Type your for the POP account name and type your password on the next line then click "Next". You should only use the first part of you e-mail address in this field. If you e-mail address is joeuser@forcomm.net then you should just enter in"joeuser"

Step 9

At "Friendly Name" screen just click "Next".

Step 10

On the next screen click "Finish".

Final Setup

Step 1

When you are done with the email setup, the Connect To screen will appear.

Step 2

Type your Login User Name (The one that ends with PPP ex: juserPPP) and Password on this screen.

Step 3

Congratulations! Your are now setup and ready to use The Internet. Just press "Connect".
